olive the bear
Once upon a time in a faraway land, lived a little baby bear named Olive. At night she would climb high into the tree tops and talk to Coo the friendly owl.
Olive and Coo would bask in the moonlight together and wish upon the twinkling stars.
Although it was nighttime Olive was wide awake and loved to explore.
Hunting amongst the leaves, baby Olive found sleeping ladybugs nestled in their beds.
When the sun started to peep it’s head across the horizon, Olive the baby bear would reluctantly creep away to sleep.
love mae wall photo dots
charming woodland creatures to moody rain clouds
The Love Mae girls are full of great ideas, from quirky woodland fabric decals to whimsical wrapping paper. Although I must say my favourite in their range are these beautiful photo dots. They’re totally reusable so you can change your photos as often as you like and a fantastic way to showcase your precious moments.
maternity leave nesting
baby nesting jobbies
I’ve been on maternity leave for over 2 weeks now and bub is overdue by 5 days. I’d love her to arrive soon, but in the meanwhile I’ve been cracking on with my nesting baby tasks.
I finally got around to dying a heap of onesies using this tutorial from Dana Made It. I picked yellow, orange, brown and green for my oneies and dyed a few t-shirts at the same time. I really like the results, the colours are so vivid and bright.
I’ve also finished off an awesome (if I do say so myself) bird mobile. I found this pattern on Spool Sewing’s blog months and months ago and I’ve wanted to create it ever since. After deciding on a broad colour palette I got cutting and stitching. I added some felt eyes to make the birdies a little kooky. I was also lucky enough to find a nice looking gumtree branch in the park which Julian shaped with a grinder in his man cave. I love how the grinder created a burnt finish for the stump and unwanted branches. It’s not hanging quite right at the moment, but I’m happy with it all the same.
re-purposed gift wrap
I ♥ my Frankie…
I love the Frankie pull-out centre fold calenders they have in every issue, although I don’t need a calender so I never used them. The back side of the calender features unique work from illustrators and artists. These works are aways impressive and definitely too good to throw away. I was out of gift wrap the other day and thought of the perfect solution – why not re-use my Frankie artwork for gift wrap?? What do you think?
Special Chenille Baby Blanket
It’s been finished for a few weeks, but I’ve finally taken some pics of the Chenille Blanket I made at Easter. It took hours and hours of sewing, but I love the result, I hope my baby-to-be does too!
Thanks to Aesthetic Nest and Dana Made It for their tutorials.
Line after line of sewing!
The cotton flannelette fluffed up fantastically after a few washes.

Making a Change Matt from this tutorial on Homemade By Jill, I’ve been told you can’t have enough of these~!
Framing some beautiful prints from Australian artist Nikki Catalano, these artworks are also my colour inspiration for the baby’s room.
Sewing baby origami wraps featured in the book, Craft Hope: Handmade Crafts for a Cause.
Rusling up some Cot Sheets, again Dana Made It has the perfect tutorial. You can tell I love her blog, aye!
I’m also thinking about Liberty Bibs, as found on this tutorial from Purlbee.
